Post profile: Post 309, Los Angeles
Sheriff's Star Post 309 is "a specialty post dedicated to the men and women who have served their nation honorably, and have returned home to serve their local communities within Los Angeles County." The post received its temporary charter in December 1927. The photograph shows an early incarnation of the American Legion Riders – in this case, a motorized unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department that was the precursor of today's California Highway Patrol. |
